School, Day Care, and Library Shows

The shows on this page are designed to be fun, yet educational for children. The length of the programs can be adjusted to meet your needs. We've found that education + entertainment = RESULTS

Get Creative With The Magic Of Mr.J

what others say This program is right in step with the national reading theme being promoted for Libraries during their Summer reading program for 2009. It involves all kinds of fun and with the focus on all the exciting ways our libraries can help young readers bring out all their creative abilities. This program features: magic, music, comedy, story telling and puppetry and a whole lot of fun. We'll see you at the library this Summer...

The Magic Of You

This is a celebration of every child's uniqueness. Many children suffer from low self-esteem. This magic based program focuses on them and what makes them special. We talk about not comparing themselves with others. As you know, this is a trap we all fall into much too often. We also emphasize competing with ourselves. It's good to strive to do better as long as our competition is based on personal growth and not an attempt to be better than somebody else. We will use all kinds of hilarious situational comedy as well as a puppet to make these points memorable. This program is a ton of fun, and allows us to teach valuable lessons at the same time. The children learn that being themselves is the greatest accomplishment of all.

Safety Is No Mystery

This program is about safety rules to help keep children out of harm's way. Topics such as traffic safety are covered in a fun and entertaining manner that insures each lesson will "stick". We also offer a Halloween safety program that covers important issues such as "dress bright at night" and "travel in groups". We really emphasize to never eat any of the candy until it's been checked by an adult. This program reinforces many of the things you'll be talking about in the classroom.

A Drug Free Me what others say

Drug abuse is a national epidemic. It's the sad truth that many children are exposed to drugs at a young age all the time; therefore, it's important to equip our children with knowledge to help them make wise decisions concerning the use of drugs. If we want them to say, "NO", we have to teach them why to say "NO". Using magic, comedy, audience participation and music. This program aims to give them all of the information that they need to say "NO" in a way they will remember and understand.

Readers Are Leaders

This is one of our most popular programs. We feature it at educational establishments such as schools and day cares each year with great success. It's tough to get children to read these days, because we must compete video games and television shows. We present books as great adventures they won't want to miss out on. We strive to let children know how fun and rewarding it is to read good books. This presentation is a motivational program that encourages them to read for pleasure as well as for gaining knowledge.

Mr. J's "A Ton Of Fun" Show

This show is a "just for fun" type of show where we do 100% magic. It's the kind of show you would use as a reward for or during an family night event after school is over. Let us know what kind of event it is, and we'll customize the program just for you. It features many audience participation magic tricks and a visit from one of our hilarious puppets.

Sameville

This program is one of our imagination theater pieces where we tell an interactive story. Sameville is a place where nobody dares to be different from one another, until a little boy named Charlie moves into the neighborhood. Three very grumpy, unhappy neighbors learn life changing lessons from this little boy. The children's faces light up as these grumpy neighbors slowly start to change. these transformations take place right before their eyes. the learn that they need to be themselves. The goal of this story is to teach kids about peer pressure and how to deal with it.

A Clown Is Born what others say

A Clown is Born is a unique program that features Kathleen Jeffers as she comes to your facility and changes into a clown right before your eyes. She will show the audience exactly what it's like to be a professional clown. Kathleen explains the history of clowning and the many types of clowns. This is a program that thrills audiences of all ages.

This special program has been very successful with children who are afraid of clowns. Kathleen's slow transformation into CoCo shows them that there is a real person under all the make-up. Many day care centers and schools have her perform for just that reason.

what others sayFor small groups, Kathleen can teach the children to make balloon animals; if she will be performing for a large group, she can prepare balloons before the show and hand them out to the children afterwards.

Interactive Story Telling with Kathleen Jeffers

In our Interactive Story Telling program, the children take part in a story in which they are the characters. Children love to be the stars of the show. Each of the stories she tells has its own lesson to tell. You'll be amazed as even some of the shyer children take part and blossom. We often hear teachers say "this is the first time I've really seen them take such an active part in anything before". Story telling really brings out the best in children's imaginations.

The topics covered are:

"Trying new things"
"Making the right choices"
"Self-esteem"
"Peer pressure"

Puppet Power

what others sayPuppet Power is a fantastic program that children and adults just love. These puppets get into all sorts of trouble and rely on the children's help to get them out of it. We also offer a musical program that features safety rules, such as

"What to do if you get lost"
"Being careful of strangers"
"Practicing good safety rules"

The children really listen to everything the puppets say, making this a great program that easily fits in to any teaching type atmosphere.

We have a variant of this program that uses a black light, which causes the puppets to glow in the dark during the show. Special arrangements must be made in advance for this to be fully effective.

Field Day Classes

Mr. J offers in-house classes that work great for schools.

Mr. J's Magic Class - In this, Mr. J will teach the students 1-3 magic tricks that they can make on their own. We will bring the necessary supplies. The children just love making their own tricks and performing them for others.

CoCo's Clown Class - In this, CoCo will set up four stations that teach kids one part to clowning each. This includes makeup, balloon animals, costumes, and juggling. Every 15 minutes the children will switch to the next station. Have your camera ready, you'll get some hilarious pictures.

Puppet Class - In this, we present a 35 minute professional puppet program and then we let them create their own puppet show using some professionally made puppets. Time permitting, we will also show them how to make puppets using paper bags.
