Hands-On Workshops

What are Hands-On Workshops?

Hands-on Workshops are activities that take place after a corresponding performance. During the workshop time, we will teach the children how to recreate the tricks that were seen during the show.

There are three different workshops:

The Magic Workshop

Once the comedy magic show is finished, all of the after-school age children learn to make and perform their own magic tricks. I enact each trick just as I would during a real show, so the children can see what the trick looks like when performed by an expert. Afterwards, I show them how the trick is done. The next step is to make the trick with supplies I provide, and the final step is to practice the trick, which builds confidence and skill.

The Clown Workshop

This is a blast for the children. After the clown show, the room is divided up into "stations." Each area represents a different skill. The first station teaches make-up. Each child gets to paint their very own clown face using a water-based paint that washes off easily
The second station teaches costuming. Each child gets to try on different clown costumes.
The third station teaches juggling. Each child learns how to juggle scarves.
The final station teaches animal balloons. Each child learns how to make dog.

The Puppet Workshop

After watching the puppet show, the children are introduced to the world of pupptry. Every child gets to try a professional puppet on for themselves. After we talk about how to develop a puppet character, each child is given the chance to go behind our professional puppet theater and put on their own mini show. The final part of this workshop involves the children making their own paper bag puppets with supplies that we provide.
